Livin’ Aloha is partnered with Dr. Camilo Mora’s native tree-planting lab at the University of Hawai’i so that every single product purchased from the Livin’ Aloha Shop provides the cost of a seedling to be planted by volunteers throughout Hawai’i. Over 10,000 trees have already been planted by the effort, and with your help, we will plant over 1 Million trees by 2030.

More than a Hawai’i Souvenier
Too many Hawai’i souvenirs don’t leave a positive impact on Hawai’i itself, they are extractive instead of additive.
Livin’ Aloha provides souvenirs that are true to the aloha spirit and dedicated to Hawai’i conservation and restoration efforts. Every product we sell plants a tree in Hawai’i as an effort to reforest Hawai’i. In the future we will be planting corals also, and expand our restoration efforts to include Hawai’i coral reef restoration.
Meaning of Aloha
Aloha is such a beautiful word, and like many concepts which are beautiful, it’s also complex. Aloha is a spiritual word from the wisdom teachings of ancient Hawaiian culture.
The word has evolved in its usage over time, but it’s spiritual power has remained. Among ancient Hawaiians Aloha meant “God within us.” It was meant as a guideline for living, a common ideal. Aloha is a philosophy of kindness, compassion, peace, and love. Aloha is about sharing joyful and loving energy with others in the present moment.
In ancient times until today, Livin’ Aloha has been about sharing the “God within us” spirit with others, with a heart of gratitude and a joyful zest for life. It’s a celebration of our blessed existence, our common kinship, our higher potentials.
Livin’ Aloha is an attitude, a way of life -- The Way of Aloha. It was taught to children of the past as one of the primary teachings, and went as follows:
Aloha is being a part of all, and all being a part of me. When there is pain - it is my pain. When there is joy - it is also mine. I respect all that is as part of the Creator and part of me. I will not willfully harm anyone or anything. When food is needed I will take only my need and explain why it is being taken. The earth, the sky, the sea are mine to care for, to cherish and to protect. This is Hawaiian - this is Aloha!
When we look at the root of the word that make up Aloha, we see it’s intention. Alo means sharing, oha means joyous affection, and ha means life energy or breath. Aloha means sharing in the joyous breath of life.
To some kahunas another usage of Aloha was to describe how we consciously manifest life joyously in the present.
